Cold Tofu – [THEATER] – an Asian American comedy improv and sketch theater group. They do monthly performances (except in July and August) and offer improv classes.
East West Players (EWP) – [THEATER] – probably the most well-established, well-known Asian American theater group in the country. Notable alumni include Mako, B.D. Wong, John Cho, David Henry Hwang, George Takei. Located in Little Tokyo, they offer acting and writing classes and a new series of plays every season.
FilAm Arts (AKA Association for the Advancement of Filipino American Arts and Culture) – [CULTURE] – a community arts organization with three main programs: The Pilipino Artists Network, Eskuwela Kultura (an arts education program that promotes cultural understanding and tolerance among inner-city youth, and The Annual Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture in September.
One Imagination – “a collective based in the Long Beach/South Bay area that believes that “through conscious artistic programming, community education and outreach, and leadership development, we can cultivate a world free of hatred, ignorance, injustice, inequality, and oppression.”
Room to Improv – [THEATER] – an Asian American improv group that performs the first Friday of every month, except for July and August.
Tuesday Night Project – “home to the 1st & 3rd Tuesday Night Café series, Tuesday Night-on-Tour, and a host of other on-going efforts.”
