Sake Tasting

“All proceeds to benefit Japan Earthquake relief.

Share a lively evening with master Philip Harper, visiting San Francisco for the first time with a selection of his award-winning sakes form Kyoto. After 16 years of honing his skills, Philip was awarded a gold medal for his entry in the 2009 Japan National Sake Appraisal.

An outstanding selection of artisinal sakes

Enjoy ample pours of “Kinsho,” a delectably aromatic daiginjo, toasty “Tokujun” with its wild berry zing, and rambunctious “Yamahai Genshu” made from wild yeast. Five other junmai, ginjo and daiginjo labels will be served, making for an evening of rare sake enjoyment!

Chef de Cuisine Dennis Arvizu has prepared a special sampling of Peruvian cuisine to accompany Philip’s sakes. The event is “cocktail party style.” We invite you to bring your friends, your appetite and your love of sake! Reception and Q&A with Philip Harper from 6:00, tasting from 6:30 to 8:30.

Benefit for Cheb I Sabbah – SF, 7/8/11

Benefit for Cheb I Sabbah

“BOM Shankar! Massive HUGE outpouring of love and healing for our dear friend Cheb I Sabbah, who has recently heard the devastating news he has stage 4 cancer. Without health insurance, the dance and culture communities of the Bay Area are coming together in celebration of his life and of his contribution to the music scene, to give thanks a…nd resources for his cancer treatment.

Because he will need tens of thousands of dollars (see http://www.chebisabbah.org ) to pay for treatments and is not able to work at this time, this is a 100% benefit to cover his life and medical expenses and support our friend.

Come early for a special opening DI set at 9pm weaving the music of Cheb i Sabbah, with dance performances in front of an altar we are creating for Chebiji.

If you are not aware of Chebi’s contribution to art and culture, we will be explaining that in detail at this event and more info TBA. This has happened so suddenly, so we are coming together quick to help raise funds.

Join us in celebrating the life and music of Cheb i Sabbah. Help us in giving financial support to him, send prayers and positive energy his way as we await his return from treatment and look forward to being on the dancefloor with him behind the DJ booth again soon.”
